I am thrilled to be on board as president of IDA. What a great opportunity to support our members in developing thriving center cities around the world!
By way of introduction I wanted to give you a little more information about my background. For the last 16 years I’ve worked with the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce in a variety of senior management roles. As an economic developer/recruiter I helped attract and retain businesses for Charlotte. My public policy skills were honed as an advocate for K-12, workforce development and higher education. It was also my honor to have been elected as an at-large member of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Board of Education where I served as vice chairman during my tenure.
My last role at the chamber was as executive director of member value, where I worked with the Chamber’s seven geographic chapters as well as their diversity and inclusion groups.
Before the chamber, I served as the public information officer for two large school systems.
And I also have downtown roots! I was Downtown Bartow Inc.’s (Florida) first Main Street manager. I have always been passionate about my work. My love for building community made IDA very attractive to me. I’m pleased to be here and look forward to working with you.
I’d like to know what’s on your mind…what your organization is currently facing in the way of issues. Please share your thoughts with me. I’ll be tweeting at www.twitter.com/downtownKit and would invite you to follow me. Or feel free to email me at kcramer@ida-downtown.org.
And please be sure to register for the annual conference in Milwaukee. The conference agenda is shaping up beautifully and will be an event you won’t want to miss. Go to http://www.ida-downtown.org/ to register. Just so you know, early bird registration ends on July 31, 2009.
